Forensic Voice Authenticity

Independent analysis of whether a voice recording comes from a real human speaker or was generated or manipulated by AI. Written for counsel, investigators and insurers, in language that holds up under adversarial reading.

Services

Engagements are analytical and advisory. Any question of court testimony is discussed case by case and is not offered as a standard service.

Method

Detection systems that report a single clean accuracy number tend to fail the moment the recording comes from a different microphone, codec, or environment than the one they were tuned on. The methodology behind this work is built to be tested across conditions, not optimised for one.

That means results are reported with their uncertainty attached, findings are cross-checked rather than taken from a single model output, and a recording that does not meet the bar for a confident conclusion is reported as inconclusive, not rounded up.

This discipline comes directly from building Oravys, a voice authenticity and trust company, where the same standard applies to every system in production.

Engagements

Larger matters, multiple recordings, or work that has to hold up in court are quoted case by case. Capacity is three cases per week; if that week is full, you will be told the next date rather than put in a queue.

A report that cannot reach a confident conclusion still says so, in writing, with the reasons. That outcome is delivered and invoiced like any other, because the absence of a usable signal is itself a finding, and often the one that matters in a dispute.

You may also find automated voice analysis sold at a much lower price, including on oravys.com, which is my own company. The two are not the same thing and should not be compared on price. Automated analysis is software: it returns a probabilistic score, no person examines the recording, and it states on its face that it is not legal evidence. What is described on this page is a named individual examining the material, writing the findings, signing them, and remaining available to be questioned on them. If what you need is a first indication, the software is the right tool and costs a fraction of this. If what you need is something that has to survive an opposing expert, it is not.

Discuss a case

Useful in a first message: the context of the dispute, how the recording was captured and in what format, and the specific question you need answered. If a recording cannot support a confident conclusion, you will be told so.
